Applying Canonical Longsword Techniques in a Tournament Environment

Hand snipe. One-handed leg cut. Egregious double. Grapple to nowhere. Does your fencing arsenal shrink to 25% of what you are capable of amidst the adrenaline and competition of most tournament bouts? Are you frustrated with and tired of the gamesmanship and artifacts that adversely affect the way we approach tournament fighting? Well we are. What can we do about it? Train canonically. Wait, you say – we all do that – but very few fighters are capable of applying blossfechten techniques in a tournament? Attend our seminar and become one of the few. We at Long Island Historical Fencing Society are singularly focused on learning, developing and applying certain canonical techniques that can be utilized successfully inside the ring. Our fencers will demonstrate multiple techniques, ripped right from the manuals, that they (1) develop and constantly refine in practice and (2) have also had success with in longsword tournaments. Upon completion, we hope that you will be able to incorporate several of these into you own arsenal, but more importantly we hope that we can help inspire you to pick some of your own favorite canonical techniques that are best suited to your style - and use those inside the ring as well. And if you also pay it forward at your club, well, then the few can become many….
